A New Order of Intelligence

November 14 · New York — November 15 · Vancouver — November 21 · Montreal

The twelfth MingDe Forum brings alumni and guests together in three cities to look afresh — at the moment intelligence is accelerating into our lives — at the questions of world order, capital and humanity that have always deserved discussion. The 2026 Theme

A New Order of Intelligence

新智序:世界、资本与人文

The world is changing.

Artificial intelligence is entering the economy, industry, finance and everyday life at a speed never seen before. From large models to industrial applications, from technological competition to the capital markets, from venture investment to global supply chains, AI is becoming one of the defining variables of our time.

But the world has never changed through technology alone.

How global power is being rearranged, how economic cycles unfold, how capital discovers new value, how companies find new growth, and how people hold on to their own judgment and direction in an ever-faster world — these remain the questions of our era.

AI is changing the world, but the world is not only AI.

The MingDe Forum 2026 Annual Meeting takes “A New Order of Intelligence” (新智序) as its theme. In the Chinese title, 智 (zhi) is intelligence — artificial intelligence, but also human wisdom and judgment; 序 (xu) is order — the world order, but also the logic by which the economy, capital, industry and the relationships between people work. Standing at the moment when intelligence is accelerating into our lives, we want to look afresh at the questions that have always deserved discussion.

The world is being reshaped. Capital is being reconfigured. And people are coming to understand themselves anew.

Reshaping, reconfiguring, reflecting.

This time we set out from New York, travel on to Vancouver, and end in Montreal. Three cities, three perspectives; three venues, one question of our era.

Three cities, three sessions

  1. Main venue

    New York

Sat, November 14 · All day

    Reshaping the World

    新智序 · 世界

Seeing a new order in a changing world

    Venue
Lee C. Bollinger Forum, Columbia University
    Organiser
    RUC North America Alumni Association
    Agenda
    Published in October

The New York main session continues the Forum's tradition: from the global situation, the economy and the financial markets to entrepreneurship and investment, it takes stock of how the world is changing.

AI will play an ever larger part in all of this — but our interest is not AI itself so much as how it is becoming a new variable that reshapes the global landscape, the workings of the economy and the logic of markets.

New York also hosts the third MingDe Lecture.

  2. Regional session

    Vancouver

    Sun, November 15 · Afternoon

    Reconfiguring Capital

    新智序 · 资本

Following the flow of capital to see value being remade

    Venue
    Terminal City Club
    Organiser
    To be announced
    Agenda
    Published in October

In Vancouver the lens narrows to entrepreneurship and investment. AI, new technologies and new industries keep creating opportunities while challenging traditional judgments of value. How do primary markets find the next generation of companies? How do secondary markets rethink growth and valuation? How does technological innovation actually turn into business value?

The Vancouver session brings together founders, investors and market participants — from venture capital to the public markets — to discuss how capital rediscovers value in a new technology cycle and industrial transformation. AI is a major variable, but not the only answer.

  3. Regional forum

    Montreal

    Sat, November 21 · Afternoon

    Reflecting on Humanity

    新智序 · 人文

Technology is changing the world; people still need to find their own bearings

    Venue
Homewood Suites by Hilton Montreal Downtown
    Organiser
    To be announced
    Agenda
    Published in October

The further technology advances, the more people need to rethink their own place.

As AI takes on more and more of the work that used to belong to people, and algorithms begin to take part in judgment, creation and decision-making, how do we understand human value, creativity and responsibility? In a world that is ever smarter and ever faster, do we still need to slow down? As more and more questions can be handed to machines, which questions must we keep answering ourselves?

The MingDe Culture Forum continues its focus on culture, the humanities and society, extending the conversation from technology itself to how people live, learn, create and think.
