To further strengthen the development of overseas alumni organizations of Renmin University of China, improve the alumni work system in North America, and better serve alumni and support the development of the University, the RUC North America Alumni Association and the RUC Southern California Alumni Association, following friendly consultations, have reached agreement on organizational integration and future development and hereby jointly issue the following statement:

The RUC North America Alumni Association was registered in the State of Delaware in June 2015 and obtained 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status from the U.S. Internal Revenue Service in March 2018. Its operational headquarters are located in New York City, with a network of members spanning major cities across the United States and Canada. Over the years, the North America Alumni Association has been committed to building a platform for alumni connection, resource sharing, and mutual professional support. Through signature programs such as the Mingde Forum and the Mentorship Program, it has provided ongoing services and opportunities for alumni engagement and development.

The RUC Southern California Alumni Association dates back to the beginning of this century and has long served RUC alumni in Los Angeles and throughout Southern California. It has actively organized events and promoted alumni engagement, playing an important role within the RUC alumni community in Southern California. Over the years, the Southern California Alumni Association has maintained close communication and cooperation with the North America Alumni Association and other regional alumni organizations.

As the RUC alumni organizational system in North America continues to develop, and in response to the growing needs of alumni in Southern California for a more standardized and institutionalized organizational structure, the RUC Southern California Alumni Association recently formally submitted an application to the RUC North America Alumni Association to join its organizational system.

On September 30, 2026, the Board of Directors of the RUC North America Alumni Association convened a meeting to review the application submitted by the RUC Southern California Alumni Association and unanimously passed a resolution approving the application. Effective October 1, 2026, the RUC Southern California Alumni Association will formally become part of the RUC North America Alumni Association and be renamed the “Los Angeles Chapter of the RUC North America Alumni Association.”

The Los Angeles Chapter will operate as a regional branch of the RUC North America Alumni Association in Southern California. While preserving the history and alumni bonds built by the Southern California Alumni Association, the Chapter will gradually be incorporated into the unified organizational system of the North America Alumni Association and achieve coordination and alignment in its legal structure, financial management, signature programs, and personnel mechanisms:

I. Unified Legal Structure.
The Los Angeles Chapter will operate under the existing 501(c)(3) nonprofit legal structure of the RUC North America Alumni Association. Through a unified legal entity and organizational structure, alumni work in Southern California will have a more standardized and stable legal foundation, with corresponding legal support for conducting activities in accordance with the law, receiving support from the community, and serving alumni.

II. Unified Financial Management.
The revenues and expenditures of the Los Angeles Chapter will be incorporated into the unified financial management system of the RUC North America Alumni Association. Except for restricted donations designated for specific purposes, all other income and expenditures of the Chapter will be budgeted, approved, and managed in accordance with the unified financial policies of the North America Alumni Association, ensuring that the finances of the alumni organization are properly managed, transparent, and orderly.

III. Unified Signature Programs.
The existing signature programs of the North America Alumni Association, including the “Mingde Forum” and the “Mentorship Program,” will gradually be extended to and implemented in Southern California. Taking into account the characteristics of the Southern California region, the North America Alumni Association will provide the Los Angeles Chapter with support in branding, resources, programs, and activities, promoting the further development of local alumni activities in a more established, systematic, standardized, and sustainable manner, and providing Southern California alumni with richer and more continuous opportunities for engagement and exchange.

IV. Unified Personnel Mechanism.
Following the organizational integration, the President and Secretary-General of the Los Angeles Chapter will be selected through recommendations by local alumni and appointed by the North America Alumni Association. Other positions will be nominated by the Chapter President and appointed upon approval by the North America Alumni Association. This mechanism fully respects the leadership role and regional characteristics of Southern California alumni, ensuring that the Chapter’s principal leaders are from the local community, understand its needs, and serve its alumni, while also ensuring consistency between the Chapter and the North America Alumni Association in organizational structure, development direction, and management mechanisms.

Both parties believe that this organizational integration represents an important adjustment in the development of the RUC alumni organization in Southern California and an important step in the North America Alumni Association’s efforts to further improve its regional organizational system.

The North America Alumni Association will fully respect and preserve the alumni bonds, traditions of service, and foundation of activities accumulated by the Southern California Alumni Association over the years. Following its integration into the North America Alumni Association, the Los Angeles Chapter will continue to serve RUC alumni in Southern California under the new organizational structure, bring alumni together, organize a diverse range of alumni activities, and further strengthen connections and cooperation with the University and RUC alumni organizations across North America. The North America Alumni Association will also take this organizational integration as an opportunity to advance RUC alumni work in Southern California to a new level and contribute renewed efforts to bringing together RUC alumni worldwide and supporting the development of the University.

This statement is hereby issued.
