Program Overview
We have always been committed to building an alumni association with warmth, depth, and a strong sense of community.
Guided by the principle that “Three people together, there is always a teacher among them; let the torch be passed from one generation to the next,” the RUC North America Alumni Association (RUC-NAAA) has officially launched the Mentorship Program.
The program is designed to provide alumni with a platform to gain a deeper understanding of the workplace, broaden their perspectives, build professional knowledge, and advance their careers. We invite accomplished alumni from a wide range of industries, with extensive professional experience and expertise, to serve as mentors and help younger alumni establish themselves in North America and make a successful transition from campus to the workplace.
Through small-group matching, industry mentors and international students or early-career professionals will be paired as mutually supportive partners—combining mentorship and friendship, learning from one another, and working together toward professional aspirations.
The Second Cycle of the Mentorship Program will launch in September 2025. We sincerely invite professionals, experts, and scholars from across industries to become mentors to RUC’s younger alumni. Give back, make a difference, and grow together!

Program Format
RUC-NAAA will provide the platform for connecting mentors and mentees. Matching will be based on professional backgrounds—such as finance, business, technology, and academia—as well as career stages, including students, early-career professionals, mid-level managers, and senior executives.
As a general principle, mentor-mentee interactions will take place primarily online. Matching will not be limited by geographic location. Each cycle of the program will run for six months.
Mentor Responsibilities
Career Guidance: Help mentees better understand the industries and professional landscape in North America; support them in defining their career direction and goals, developing professional skills, and addressing questions and uncertainties about career choices.
Personal Support: Build a lasting relationship with mentees that goes beyond professional guidance. Offer encouragement and perspective on learning, career development, and life planning. Sometimes, a simple text message or phone call can help a younger alum find clarity when facing uncertainty.
Life Mentorship: Provide positive guidance that extends beyond career development to include personal growth, life choices, and character. The goal is to become not only a trusted career advisor, but also a lifelong mentor and friend.
What We Look for in Mentors
Professional Background: At least five years of professional or research experience in a particular field, with substantial experience in areas such as finance, consulting, consumer goods, internet and technology, or related industries. A willingness to share industry insights with mentees is essential. Prior experience in career mentoring or coaching is preferred.
Commitment to Mentoring: Genuine, caring, and committed to high professional standards, with a willingness to communicate and share actively with mentees. Mentors are also expected to organize at least one activity in any format during the program, such as a company visit, informal gathering, or discussion session.
Effective Communication: Based in North America and able to engage actively with students online. Mentors are expected to provide a cumulative minimum of 10 hours of guidance during the program.
Upon completion of the program, RUC-NAAA will present each mentor with an Honorary Certificate in recognition of their time, commitment, and contribution.
Mentee Responsibilities
Respect and Learn: Approach the mentorship with humility and a willingness to learn. Respect the mentor’s time and effort, and clearly communicate questions, needs, and goals.
Take Initiative: Proactively reach out to mentors and work together to determine the timing, frequency, format, and topics of communication. Keep mentors informed of personal progress and developments.
Provide Feedback: Share feedback with the program team and help introduce the Mentorship Program to other RUC alumni.
