On the evening of November 16, following the successful conclusion of the Mingde Forum 2024, the RUC North America Alumni Association held the “Mingde Forum 10th Anniversary Outstanding Contribution Awards” Ceremony at the Yale Club of New York City. The ceremony recognized companies and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the development of the Mingde Forum over the past decade. Zheng Shuiquan, Deputy Party Secretary of Renmin University of China, led a delegation from the alma mater to attend the ceremony and presented awards to the recipients.
This was the first time that the RUC North America Alumni Association presented the Outstanding Contribution Awards. The recipients were jointly nominated by the Governance Committee and the Mingde Forum Secretariat and unanimously approved by the Association’s Board of Directors.
The ceremony marked a new milestone in the ten-year development of the Mingde Forum, while also inspiring greater confidence and anticipation for its future.
All of the award recipients are long-standing supporters and contributors to the forum, having helped the platform grow and thrive through their continued commitment and action.
A total of two organizations and ten individuals received the awards. The corporate recipients are alumni-owned companies that have made generous contributions and provided steadfast support to the alumni association and the Mingde Forum over many years. Among the individual recipients are founders and long-serving key contributors to the forum, as well as friends who have provided strong support to the RUC North America Alumni Association and helped raise its profile and reputation.
Yafeng Wu Hosts the Awards Ceremony and Raises a Toast
The ceremony was hosted by Yafeng Wu, President of the RUC North America Alumni Association and co-founder of the Mingde Forum.
He expressed his highest respect and heartfelt appreciation to all the award recipients. He noted:
“Over the past ten years, the Mingde Forum has grown from a platform for exchange into an intellectual bridge connecting people around the world. None of this would have been possible without the support and contributions of our alumni and friends. Today’s awards are not only a tribute to the past, but also an encouragement for us to continue working together and creating an even brighter future.”
Wu also noted that, over the ten-year journey of the Mingde Forum, there are far more than a hundred individuals and organizations who deserve recognition and appreciation, and that no single award can possibly acknowledge everyone.
The selection of two organizations and ten individuals for this year’s awards was intended not only to recognize their contributions and exemplary support, but also to serve as encouragement and inspiration for them—and for the entire alumni community—to continue contributing to the forum and its future development.
Zheng Shuiquan Delivers Remarks
In his remarks, Zheng Shuiquan said that the ten-year journey of the Mingde Forum had been filled with both challenges and opportunities, and that its achievements would not have been possible without the collective efforts of every alumnus and partner.
He expressed his hope that everyone would continue working together in the years ahead and keep the spirit of Mingde alive and passing from one generation to the next.
The award recipients also shared remarks, recalling memorable experiences of growing alongside the Mingde Forum and expressing their commitment to continuing to contribute their wisdom and energy to its future.
The dinner was held in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere, bringing together award recipients, Board members, annual forum guests, and the organizing committee team. Together, they looked back on the remarkable journey of the past decade and exchanged ideas about the forum’s future development.
The success of the Mingde Forum reflects not only the strong bonds and sense of community among RUC alumni, but also the continued transmission and development of Renmin University of China’s spirit of “seeking truth from facts” (实事求是) among its global alumni community.
The RUC North America Alumni Association will continue to uphold the spirit of Mingde, work alongside more outstanding alumni and partners, and build an even broader platform for the exchange of ideas and the sharing of knowledge and wisdom.
