on Being Named 2023 “Outstanding Alumni Organizations” by Renmin University of China
On January 7, the Fifth Meeting of the Seventh Council of the Renmin University of China Alumni Association was held in Kunming, Yunnan. Vice President Zheng Xinye attended the meeting, which brought together nearly 200 representatives from relevant university departments, schools and colleges, alumni associations in China and overseas, professional chapters, cultural and sports associations, and alumni representatives from different graduating classes.
Representing President Lin Shangli and the university, Vice President Zheng Xinye welcomed all alumni attending the meeting. He noted that the RUC Alumni Association is committed to serving alumni, the alma mater, and society, while contributing to major national strategies, the university’s “Double First-Class” initiative, and the growth and development of alumni.
As RUC continues to “open new horizons, pursue new paths, and strive for excellence,” the Alumni Association is assuming an increasingly important mission and responsibility. With the support of successive council members, alumni, and friends from all sectors of society, the association has continued to evolve with the times and grow, gradually becoming an important bond connecting the alma mater and its alumni and a bridge strengthening friendships among alumni.
Zheng Xinye expressed his sincere appreciation and highest respect to alumni who continue to care deeply about their alma mater and contribute their time and efforts to the alumni community.
The meeting also featured the 2023 Alumni Affairs Recognition Ceremony. The RUC North America Alumni Association (RUC-NAAA) and the RUC Canada Alumni Association were honored with the 2023 “Outstanding Alumni Organization” Award.
Yafeng Wu, Vice Chair and President of RUC-NAAA, and Xufeng Li, Board Member of RUC-NAAA and President of RUC Canada, were recognized as “Outstanding Alumni Affairs Professionals.”
Liu Jing, Vice Chair of RUC-NAAA, represented RUC-NAAA at the meeting, while Xufeng Li represented RUC Canada. Both accepted the awards on behalf of their respective organizations.

At the meeting, Zhou Rong, Director of the Alumni Affairs Office and Secretary-General of the RUC Alumni Association, presented the 2023 Work Report and 2024 Work Plan on behalf of the alma mater’s Alumni Association.
The university’s 2023 alumni affairs report highlighted several achievements in international alumni engagement, including the 2023 Mingde Forum, the establishment of the Montreal Chapter of RUC-NAAA, and the official launch of the RUC Canada Alumni Home.
The meeting reviewed and approved the 2023 Work Report of the RUC Alumni Association and the 2024 Work Plan of the RUC Alumni Association.
It also reviewed and approved proposals concerning the establishment of alumni chapters for the School of CPC History and Party Building, Gaoling Academy of Artificial Intelligence, Gaoling School of Data Science, and the Department of Psychology; the establishment of an RUC Alumni Association Rowing Club; changes to and additional appointments of certain council members and Deputy Secretary-General positions; the addition of Vice Presidents of the RUC Alumni Association; and the establishment of the “Honorary Alumni” designation.
